Teach your kids that when things go sour, they can turn them around.  If you kids take an interest in an issue (anything from saving lost puppies to supporting kids with cancer) encourage them to do something to brighten someones day. Take your kids to the store for some supplies - paper cups, lemonade mix (or squeeze your own), have them figure out how much to charge to make a profit, have them make a sign supporting their cause, set up a table to sell their product, help them sort and count their earnings, take them to make the donation to the charity of their choice.  Participating in every aspect of the charitable effort will be a sure to squeeze a smile out of everyone.
