FEATHERING OUR NESTS: O-MAMA’s Perspective on SPRING CLEANING

Spring is in the air.  The birds and the bees are flitting around doing their thing…nature abounds.  The birds are feathering their nests and laying their eggs, while the bees are busy pollinating every flower in the garden.  The air is crisp and clean.  Chirping and buzzing fills the air.

Everything seems fresh and new.  So, let’s take a new look at Spring, shall we? The first thing that comes to mind is cleaning. Ugggh.  But, let's talk about the birds and the bees instead...the part of the story that happens...

WACO REVISITED?: LA Religious Sect Members In Custody

Twelve members of a religious sect and their leader, Reyna Marisol Chicas of El Salvador, were arrested in Palmdale, California.  The group’s members apparently entered into a suicide pact citing the impending biblical “rapture” as their motivation.  They left farewell letters for their families, which alarmed them and led to the massive search to find them. They were apprehended at a park. The group included eight children, and child-welfare authorities are now involved.  Chicas is undergoing psychological evaluation. The leader said, however, that, ”we are Christians and we would never harm ourselves.”

MOMism:”Blind faith.”  Just because someone is a charismatic leader, does not mean you should follow them blindly.    Sometimes taking a leap of faith is necessary, but it’s always important to have your own ideas and use your own judgment.  Don’t be led astray by “false prophets.”  We need to teach our kids to listen to that little voice inside of them and let that, rather than the charisma of a person, guide them.
