"A Bunch of Spoiled Brats": An Opinionated Mom's Perspective on the BANKING INDUSTRY

Seriously?!  Do the spoiled brats on Wall Street need a spanking?  ARGGH.  They are so frustrating!  But we know, we know…a spanking "will hurt us, more than it’ll hurt them," right?  It’s only a short-term solution, not a long-term solution…blah, blah, blah.

If our children were acting like spoiled brats, we’d dig deep and realize some how, some way we fell down on the job.  We did not clearly set expectations, outline boundaries, define consequences or follow through on them.  We let it get out of hand, right?  The...

TYING IT UP: BP & U.S. Government Working Together To Clean-Up Gulf

Both BP and the federal government have a vested interest in continuing oil production in the Gulf.  The Obama administration and BP are nearing a deal by which future revenues from BP’s Gulf of Mexico operations will be used to guarantee its $20 billion cleanup and compensation fund. BP has already paid 3 billion toward the effort, with the remaining 17 billion still under negotiation.

MOMism: “The tie that binds.”  There are some relationships that are intertwined forever.  Let’s take an average family, for example.  Even in the most dysfunctional families, when kids are involved there is a tie that binds them. People fall in and out of love, but they need to stay focused on what's important...the best interests of the kids.  The well being of their children remains an integral priority for both and becomes the tie that forever connects them.

Maybe this is the case for BP and the federal government. They have a flawed relationship, so to speak, but they still recognize that they have a common interest, the people of the Gulf and the mandatory cleanup of the region.  The government needs BP to help pay for the reparations, and BP needs government contracts to maintain its solvency as a corporation.  Not to mention, our addiction to oil continues to remain the elephant in the room...like any dysfunctional, co-dependent relationship?!  In the meantime, we need this relationship to work...for the kids!
