FEATHERING OUR NESTS: O-MAMA’s Perspective on SPRING CLEANING

Spring is in the air.  The birds and the bees are flitting around doing their thing…nature abounds.  The birds are feathering their nests and laying their eggs, while the bees are busy pollinating every flower in the garden.  The air is crisp and clean.  Chirping and buzzing fills the air.

Everything seems fresh and new.  So, let’s take a new look at Spring, shall we? The first thing that comes to mind is cleaning. Ugggh.  But, let's talk about the birds and the bees instead...the part of the story that happens...

TREACHEROUS TOYS: Report On Dangerous Toys

The Daily Beast has investigated hospital records to figure out which toys are the most dangerous.  Apparentily 200,000 kids a year are injured by playground toys.  Top 5 most dangerous are:

-Monkey bars, climbing equipment

-Trampolines

-Swing sets

-Slides

-Swimming pools

MOMism: “Monkey-see, Monkey Do”

It’s so easy to get distracted in our busy lives, and let a false sense of security reign at home.  This article is a somber reminder that even in the confines of our own homes, that safety and careful monitoring of our kids is key.  After all, we have probably all caught our kids in the development of a “brilliant” idea, like tightrope walking the volleyball net, or swan diving from the gazebo into the pool.  Even on the monkey bars, peer pressure rears its ugly head. With friends ready to walk the plank together,  kid-os need the watchful eye and guidance of their O-MAMAs to steer them clear of danger.

    I completely agree. They're still so young that they want to try everything, especially if it's their own idea! We're their mama and we need to protect them whenever possible!
