FEATHERING OUR NESTS: O-MAMA’s Perspective on SPRING CLEANING

Spring is in the air.  The birds and the bees are flitting around doing their thing…nature abounds.  The birds are feathering their nests and laying their eggs, while the bees are busy pollinating every flower in the garden.  The air is crisp and clean.  Chirping and buzzing fills the air.

Everything seems fresh and new.  So, let’s take a new look at Spring, shall we? The first thing that comes to mind is cleaning. Ugggh.  But, let's talk about the birds and the bees instead...the part of the story that happens...

"Too Much Of A Good Thing": An Opinionated MAMA's Perspective On BEAUTY

Is too much beauty starting to get really ugly? In my opinion YES! What is it with these women who get all dolled up just to go pick up the kids from school? You know the type…big fake boobs, Botox, high heels, tight clothes. They always seem to show up late. Never volunteer to help and always have something to complain about. I understand wanting to look your best. Don’t get me wrong. I love to shop, love cute clothes, shoes and makeup. I can understand getting dressed up on the weekend to go out with your husband or some friends. We all have our fun clothes that we feel special and sexy in. Most of us save these for the appropriate time and place.  What I wonder is why these moms feel the need to look like this at their kids sporting events? Most of them are married, so I don’t think they are looking for a man. Do they do it for themselves or for their husbands...or do they do it simply because the crave the attention?

We were at our son’s baseball game and a mom walked by looking like this. I watched her trying to get in the stands in her too short skirt and high heels. Of course the men looked at her and the women rolled their eyes (that’s only natural). We went out for pizza after the game and we started to talk about her… (I know it’s not nice to talk about people behind their back).. the funny thing is, not one of the men in the group described her as beautiful. They had many other adjective, but definitely not beautiful.

So, what is BEAUTIFUL?  How we see ourselves?  How others see us?  MAMAs know that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."  Let’s teach our children about real beauty - confidence, goodness, sincerity, grace, wisdom - all the qualities that are on the inside and shine through.
