"Leave It Better Than You Found It": Opinionated Moms on the ENVIRONMENT

Camp Nissokone.  The smell of pine and Breck shampoo. Bunking with Jen and Wendy.  Late night giggles, panty raids and waking up to morning bugle calls to do the Pledge of Allegiance.  Chippewa and Ottawa cabins.  The beaver chant (seriously!).  Polar bear swims, archery and hiking through the woods looking at animal poop.  Good times…

We learned a lot during those summers at good old Camp Nissokone.  We learned a little independence.  We learned to make new friends.  We learned to try new things.  We learned to...

THE SKY IS FALLING: Thousands Of Birds Drop To Death

Listen to Chicken Little because it’s literally happening!  Thousands of birds dropped out of the sky in Arkansas.  Three days later, about 500 birds were found dead along a Louisiana highway.  And coincidentally, thousands of dead fish have washed up on the beaches in the area.  We’ve heard of it raining cats and dogs…but birds and fish?  The birds were examined and were found to have internal injuries, but biologists are testing them to find out the exact cause of death.   Experts say that the birds were probably knocked out of their roosts by a big storm.  Okay…but what about the fish?

Opinionated MAMAs are super sleuths.  We know that “there’s got to be a logical explanation,” for everything.  So, what is it this time? We’re pretty sure that these birds didn’t enter into a Jonestown-esque suicide pact, so what gives?  Did they starve?  Did they freeze? Is it environmental toxins? What’s in the water and the air there? Did some birdbrain kill them?  What’s your theory MAMAs?

The photo looks like a red winged blackbird. Those are hardy birds and we have them in Indiana. It gets frigid here, we have big storms, and yet I never see any huge bird kills like that. The fish kills always seem to be due to toxins (or lack of oxygen due to toxins) in the water. I believe they will find that the massive kills were due to environmental toxins.

@bbadsenji - I agree. Something TOXIC is killing the birds/fish in mass.
