RED ALERT: France Deals With Terrorist Threats

A fourth bomb alert in Paris in four weeks led to the evacuation of the Eiffel Tower.  The Paris fire service received a call saying that there was a suspicious package at the tower, but the police did not find any explosives.  This is the second call in two weeks alerting the police to a “possible” bomb.  The country has been on high alert since they received information that a suicide attack was planned on the Paris metro.   The head of the Central Directorate of Internal Intelligence said that now, “All the blinkers are on red.”   France has increased security at airports, train stations and monuments.  Also, military vehicles have been patrolling central Paris.

MOMism:Dont let your guard down.  No matter what the situation, we can never let our guard down when it comes to the safety of our kids.  Even when they are playing and having fun, we are still on red alert.

France has not had a terrorist attack since 1996, but recently al Qaeda has taken five of their citizens captive from their Nigerian uranium mine.  The French have reason to believe that some or all of the recent threats could be credible, so they are keeping their guard up in order to protect themselves and their citizens.  Let this be a lesson to us all...we can never take our safety for granted.  We ALL need to remain alert and do our part to recognize and report anything that makes us blink twice!
