"The Voice of Reason": Opinionated MAMA's Perspective on the SOCIAL & POLITICAL ISSUES of Our Times

Originally posted 9/12/09, given the political climate, we thought our very first opinion piece was relevant this week:  “Listen to your mother!” We've all heard it a million times....it's an effective reminder that makes kids sit up a little straighter and pay attention.  Yep, it's true, kids need constant reminders on how to behave, but unfortunately, the grown ups in our country need to be reminded, too.  You know, ”mind your manners,” “clean up your own mess,” “don’t be a poor sport” and on and on.  So, who better to...

PRIMARILY OVER: Mitt Wins Big

The Republican primary is better than a soap opera, although all of the good drama won't come until South Carolina.  New Hampshire was a juicy victory for Mitt Romney who received 39.3% of the vote. Ron Paul took second place with 22% and Jon Huntsman came in third with 17% of the primary vote.  So, our takeaway is that "Mitt is it."

Still, we are having more fun with a sidebar storyline.  We couldn't help but fantasize about how adoreable it would be if a love connection could be made between any of those great looking Romney and Hunstman kids.  Sorry...we went full MAMA this time!  It's the only fun spin we had on the otherwise expected results.  (-:

Oh, and MAMAs, another take away from the Iowa and New Hampshire races is to figure out the difference between a caucus and a primary!? We kinda sorta knew...and kinda sorta didn't. (-:

MOMism: "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with." The GOP has been struggling to fall in love with Mitt, playing fickle and developing crushes on different candidates every month.  Now it looks like Mitt's their steady guy.  He had to win Iowa. He did. He had to win New Hampshire in a big way, and he did that, too.  So, do you think the Grand Ole Party will eventually stand him up and run away with another candidate at the last minute?  Or, will they commit to Mitt and take him all the way to the altar and inauguration bells?  Do tell...MAMAS, what's your take on the GOP Primary?
