FRONT RUNNER: Mitt Romney

UPDATE 10/11/11:  NJ Governor and Republican darling du jour, Chris Christie, endorsed Mitt Romney for President today.

Originally posted 6/1/11: The former governor of Massachusetts has presidential hair and great looks.  He exudes competence and is a moderate, who turns right every now and then...and then left again?!  He’s got the Obamacare "problem" to handle, but did a good job of clarifying his position at the New Hampshire debate.  He has raised $10 million in one day and is polling strongly against Obama. But, can he bring jobs back to America?

Is Mitt Romney the total package, or just better looking on paper?  What do you think, MAMAs?  Don't forget to watch the Republican debates to help you form your own opinions.

momof3: I don't know the answer to your question, but my opinion is that the media is basically "in charge" of letting the public know who is who. Jon Huntsman doesn't get much if any coverage in the media, or in the Republican debates. And I don't even know who Buddy Roemer is ~ why is that?

Jon Huntsman is more conservative than Mitt Romney - and has been consistent on the issues throughout his career. Jon Huntsman is a gentleman. He is articulate and incredibly smart. I don't agree with him on everything, but I respect him. He is absolutely the most experienced and presidential candidate that the GOP has - he was a governor, an ambassador and a very successful business man. He understands how to govern, he understand foreign policy/international affairs and he understands the economy. So, it is perplexing to me that he doesn't get more attention. Buddy Roemer is the most endearing man in the race - he is homespun sweet and reminds me of a wise grandpa. He gets NO coverage because he won't take any pac money. He will only take small donations, so he is really running to make a point about taking money out of the political process - which I totally agree with. He was a congressman and the governor of Louisiana. He is passionate and credible. But, I am starting to believe that the Republicans are so angry that they just want a candidate who can verbally bash Obama with insane rhetoric - the first 3 years of his presidency, they spent ranting about his birth certificate and speculation about his religion?! I mean, really?!@#! We've got an international economic crisis going on and instead of everyone rolling up their sleeves and figuring out how to get people in this country back to work, we have become so petty and small in our thinking. It's sad. Anyway, please learn more about these candidates and let me know what you think! I won't be voting for them, but they don't scare me. (-:

I agree totally with everything you said. I also like Jon Huntsman, but unfortunately, like I said, the media pretty much controls it all and succeeds a lot, if not most, of the time. (media on both sides) I will check out the other one you mentioned. I am still involved in GOooH (GOOOH.Com) which is running only representatives to the House. I saw an interesting piece on TV recently, and can't remember the guy's name who started this, but it sounds interesting and could be the answer for elections. I think the web site was Americansvote.org. Not sure about that. I'll check it out and get back to you. I didn't know I was going to bring that up or would have verified it before hand.

Granted, I am a big ole DEM, but can anyone explain to me why the only 2 smart and credible GOP candidates - Jon Huntsman & Buddy Roemer - barely rank among Republicans?

Viva Las Vegas! What a show last night's GOP debate proved to be. Perry and Romney went head to head...complete with arguing and touching. Kind of an Alpha male showdown. It was strange to watch and kind of exciting, too. In my opinion, it was Perry's last gasp, made Romney look "all shook up" (catch the Elvis reference?) at times, and Herman Cain seemed in over his head for the first time. So, I'm left with Mitt going into Iowa as my favorite. Anybody have a different point of view?

With Chris Christie in his corner, he'll have the money to go all the way - it's a battle between Rick Perry and Mitt Romney for sure. Hmmm - it's kind of like the guy you know you should like, but there's no chemistry, and the guy you kinda do like, but you're afraid to bring him home?! Good luck Republicans - hope you make the right choice, cuz this dude could be the leader of the free world?! YIKES. Too bad it couldn't be Jon Huntsman - smart, experienced, sane - I would actually have considered voting for him, but not the other two?!
