- DIVORCE DISEASE: Divorce Contagious
-
According to a Brown University study, divorce is contagious. If a friend, family member or co-worker gets divorced, it increases your chances of divorcing by 75%. A friend of a friend’s divorce increases the chance to 33%. If the divorce is happening to a close friend, watch out! Your chances of getting a divorce increases to a whopping 147% !
MOMism: ”Monkey see, monkey do.” Just because others are doing it, doesn’t mean you have to! We know that it's important for our KID-Os to hang out with a good group of kids that are a positive influence on each other. If our kids see bad habits and bad behavior, they are likely to emulate it! So, it really does matter who you hang out with…whether your are a child or an adult...stay focused on your own banana otherwise, you are likely to get distracted!

Having gone through the seperation and ultimate divorce of three very close friends, I can say that it definitely forces you to take a GOOOOOD look at your own marriage and relationship. Interestingly enough, I would say the common theme was a breakdown in communication on many levels. In two of the three cases one or both spouses came from a divorced family and there were definitely behaviors that they carried forward...so divorce by association, I don't think so. But, mirroring bad behavior that you have witnessed or experience... definitely possible and perhaps likely.on 07/09/10Reply

- Totally agree. That's why it's so important that our kids have good friends. They learn so much from their friends and aspire to be like the kids they hang out with...on 07/09/10Reply
