Spring is in the air.  The birds and the bees are flitting around doing their thing…nature abounds.  The birds are feathering their nests and laying their eggs, while the bees are busy pollinating every flower in the garden.  The air is crisp and clean.  Chirping and buzzing fills the air.

Everything seems fresh and new.  So, let’s take a new look at Spring, shall we? The first thing that comes to mind is cleaning. Ugggh.  But, let's talk about the birds and the bees instead...the part of the story that happens...

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER: Elizabeth Taylor Dies

Say what you want about her unconventional personal life and the fact she was married 8 times (to 7 different men), Elizabeth Taylor was the last of the great movie stars.  She sparkled like no other.  At her death, she was with her four children, Michael and Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton. Her son, Michael said of his mother that she was, “an extraordinary woman who loved life to the fullest, with great passion, humor and love.”

Taylor was a two-time Oscar winner for her roles in Butterfield 8 and Whos Afraid of Virginia Woolf.  She became a star and the idol of every little girl when she played Velvet  Brown opposite Mickey Rooney in National Velvet at the tender age of 12.  Elizabeth’s other well -known roles were with James Dean in Giant, as Maggie the Cat in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and as Cleopatra opposite Richard Burton.  Her longevity as an actress and business woman had as much to do with her talent and beauty on screen, as the appeal of her love life dramas that inspired a brand all her own.  She was giant, brilliant, luminescent and flawed - that almost mystical combination of tangible, yet unattainable.

Elizabeth Taylor was a precious gem.  She was a MAMA with the strength and clarity of her convictions.  Liz (who apparently didn't like to be called "Liz," but everyone who doesn't really know her does?!) used her star power to fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic, after her friend, Rock Hudson, lost his battle with the disease.  She got behind a cause and made it hard for the rest of us to ignore.  Her family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation in her memory.

She was a Hollywood legend that never lost her sparkle.  “Diamonds are forever,” and Elizabeth Taylor embodied the timeless, jewel like qualities of beauty and strength that will endure in our memories and on the silver screen forever.

She was a unique beauty - inside and out. Her purple eyes and passionate spirit made her a fascinating character to watch on the big screen. But, I will remember the way she shined the sparkle of her stardom on the AIDS epidemic. Amazing legacy. Amazing MAMA!
