- CATCHING FLACK: Pentagon and Gay Rights Groups In Tiff

Gay rights groups are upset over a survey the Pentagon took of its troops asking how they feel about gays being allowed to serve openly in the military. The 103-question query is being called "biased" for, among other things, using the term “homosexual,” and asking how a service person would feel about being assigned a gay roommate. According to the Associated Press, Pentagon officials told the press that the suggestion that the survey is biased is “nonsense.”
MOMism: “There’s no such thing as a dumb question.” We encourage our kids to ask us anything. Knowledge is power, right? So, the only dumb question is the one unasked. If the Pentagon needs information about how to best deal with changing the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, then what’s the harm in getting some information from the people whom the new policy would affect? Maybe they just needed some hand holding about how to pose the questions in a more politically correct way?
