- BRASS TAX: Obama Announces New Economic Plan
-
Photo New York Times-Stephen Crowley President Obama announced in Ohio, that he is opposing the extension of Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy. He proposed the tax rates for those with higher incomes return to their pre-2001 levels. He said that, “cutting taxes on the wealthiest won’t get our country where it needs to go.” For those with incomes below $250,000 for couples and $200,000 for individuals, however, the current lower tax rates will be extended.
The President also announced new infrastructure projects meant to boost employment and stimulate the economy. The plan, which will include a 100% tax break for businesses investing in equipment and infrastructure purchases, will have to pass muster with both Republicans and Democrats. The Administration would like to get the plan voted upon before members of Congress begin their mid-term election campaigns.
MOMism: “Get down to business.” We teach our kids to roll up their sleeves and get things done. It’s time to do your homework. It’s time to do your chores. It’s time to get to bed. Kids need to know that the only way to achieve a goal is to avoid procrastination and “get down to business.”
In this case, our government needs to get down to business and make conditions conducive for business. It should not be about if Democrats or Republicans come up with the ideas, it should be that our government is able to function and work together to find solutions to our nations problems. The time for playground politics is over, let’s get down to business and get our economy moving!

I think this is the most sensible thing I have heard out of the White House in a very long time. Yes, the wealthy supposedly are putting their money into the economy. It hasn't made any difference in the last decade, they need to start paying their share.on 09/25/10Reply

This is why I love this site! Common sense! I just wish that Washington could follow this example because our Country could really benefit from some common sense.on 09/10/10Reply
- I love it, too...but I don't see the common sense in raising taxes on the wealthy right now. Aren't the wealthy the ones to invest in new business, spend money and hire people?on 09/14/10Reply
