Logo: 2010 Nat'l Conference on Volunteering and Service The National Conference on Volunteering and Service has begun this week in New York City. The annual event provides attendees with an opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired through a wide range of exciting workshops and special events. Guest speakers include NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, NY Governor David Paterson, and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. President Obama is calling our nation’s recovery and renewal an “all hands on deck moment.” He sates that “service is the way to go about solving our problems, and there are many ways to get involved. America’s new foundation will be built one community at a time. Government can't do it alone.”
MOMism: “It takes a village.” O-MAMAs, here’s yet another reminder of the importance to look and live beyond our own bubble. We are Americans and we all have a vested interest in the success of our country, therefore, we are all responsible for doing our part to contribute, regardless of race, religion, region, political affiliation or sexual orientation. Like it or not, we are part of the same community...the United States of America. Let's be united in doing more for our country. If it takes a village...then, WE are the village people! (-:
