What do you think about this statement MAMAS? "I think it's important for all leaders...not just leaders of the Republican Party or the Democratic Party...to say, look, we can't stand for this...we're on Sarah Palin's target list, but the thing is that the way that she has it depicted has the cross-hairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they've go to realize there's consequences to that action." - Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, 3/25/10on 01/17/11Reply
- Thank you for posting that...besides the President, Bill Clinton and John McCain have spoken out against irresponsible rhetoric. The debate has to be civil AND honest. Because, although Sarah Palin is not responsible for actions of a crazy man, she is responsible for the words she uses and the way it makes people feel. Remember, our kids are watching and listening. It would be GREAT to list those that are being RESPONSIBLE...anyone who hears anyone speak out against the craziness, on either side, let's post them here!on 01/17/11Reply

i know im love mama...but i don't have much love for people who encourage behavior that could put others at risk...just as a publicity stunt. maybe he punishment should be that he will only be allowed to travel on El-Al???on 11/18/10Reply

There was a recent murder in my city. A young (black) man (23)shot at 3AM in front of his house. His two young daughters(1 & 3) were inside being watched by HIS mother. So I spent some time on a board by the tv station and was AMAZED at the venom towards urban culture at large. Granted this young man was hardly a paragon of virtue, BUT STILL two babies lost their father and a mother lost her son...okay I was going to tie this to Lindsay Lohan somehow, but now I lost my train of t hought...sorry.on 07/22/10Reply
- Were you going with young and stupid need chances too? Lol. But that is devistating.on 08/06/10Reply
-
- Seriously, but Lindsay's parents are to blame! They are so gross...the dad is a publicity hound...the mom wants to be her friend and pick up guys at the bar with her...and they all expect her to pay the bills! We all control our own actions, but with role models like that, she was bound to play the victim! So sad.on 07/21/10Reply

MMS employees too busy looking at porn perhaps? Seriously, though, its a big lesson with dire consequences to the spill- but let's hope that NEW regulations or OLD regulations are followedon 07/01/10Reply
- Yes, we need regulation, but how about the responsibility of big business? Are we just to assume they are going to try to get away with anything and everything to cut corners, break laws and violate all sorts of ethical boundaries all the time and we'll just have to set up shadow businesses to monitor all their activity? NO! That would be absurd. So, business needs to follow rules...or go to jail. We need to crack down on the crazy, or it will continue to spiral out of control. What are the consequences these companies are facing? NOTHING, but a slap on the rist. Oopsy, we're sorry.on 07/17/10Reply

I heard that MMS was letting the oil companies fill out their own regulation evaluations!!?!?@!!?!?! What is going on? Have we lost our minds letting the fox guard the hen house in every realm? our banks? our oil companies? our churches? the bottom line is making MONEY...as long as they are making money, they'll do whatever it takes to push the boundaries and take advantage. We need to get serious and stop pretending COMPANIES will just do the right thing because they are "good" people. Good people do strange things when money is involved.on 05/25/10Reply

These poor families! I try to put myself in these mothers' shoes and its almost impossible to imagine how powerless they must feel!on 05/14/10Reply

I do not think that how the adoptive parents handled this is o.k. But if you read the entire note the mom wrote, she does make some interesting points. Please don't crucify me! I UNDERSTAND there are no "take backs" but there is another issue here that was not mentioned. In the "mother's" note, she states how dishonest the adoption agency in Russia was, and how hard she tried to handle his behavioral problems for which she was never informed of. What is someone to do if they adopt a child and KNOW they aren't equipped for someone with extreme behavioral problems??? It's sort of like finding out your baby has downs syndrome in utero. Are you supposed to keep it know matter what? No "take backs" on that one too? I guess that's another hot button issue...on 04/13/10Reply
- I totally hear you. However, you NEVER know what parenting brings...it's all a big surprise. Good and bad. The point is, when you decide to become a parent, it is a lifetime appointment. If you choose not to become a parent, that is your prerogative, but when you decide to take it on you've got to jump in with both feet!on 04/13/10Reply

Just curious how REPUBLICANS can keep a straight face as they lecture the country on fiscal responsibility when they are RESPONSIBLE for dropping 10+ trillion dollars in debt and a recession in our laps, while continuing to spend money on frivolous things and drain the GOP coiffures on lesbian sex shows?! Awesome.on 03/31/10Reply

Responsibility - accept it! Parents who fix everything for their children are not doing them any favors. A child who does no have to figure out how to resolve conflict with friends or be respectful to teachers/grownups because mommy fixes it grows up to have a very warped sense of entitlement. Spend the time to help your child learn how to empower themselves.on 03/30/10Reply
- Totally. We need to teach our kids to solve problems and figure things out...we have lost site of the difference between guidance and overbearance. We are enabling a generation that will not know how to do anything...scary! The good news...I think the MOMS on this site get it...spread the word.on 03/31/10Reply

This is when America is at it's finest. Coming together to give hope. Haiti is desperate for hope. Our government is leading a worldwide initiative, so the whole world will be helping a neighbor in need. But, someone has to start. Someone has to lead. If not us, then who?on 01/16/10Reply
- I am very proud right now. I do believe that if we all just come together on the issues that matter most, we'd make great strides...can we build on our country's unity? That is the question.on 01/17/10Reply

This situation is appalling and so incredibly sad. First of all that these people are so poor to begin with, and that their government has basically no infrastructure due to their history of graft and corruption that now that they are facing a real crisis, the help they need cannot truly even get to them. Airplanes are sitting for 6 hours on the tarmac, there is no fuel to get the planes out of there once they've arrived. Now our government is sending money which hopefully will get to the people and not continue to line the pockets of the corrupt leaders. I'm all for NGOs helping out and lord knows, they need the assistance from the international community right now- but does the US have 100 million to shell out ? I'm planning on donating through the Red Cross and apparently through my tax dollars as well. I bet my Red Cross donation actually gets to someone who needs it. I dunno???on 01/14/10Reply

Good greif! I hope that this crazy lady will be bus driver no more, in fact no driver no more! Those poor kids on the bus! Did you see them screaming at her? They had more sense than the adult who was supposed to be taking care of them. That's the scary part!on 01/06/10Reply
-
WOW this is soooo wrong about the drunk bus driver and only getting 90 days! She has our precious children in her hands and the outcome could have been deadly. We O-MAMA's need to stick together and make sure our children are safe. SAFETY FIRST!!!!on 01/06/10Reply

Did you hear about the Brazilian father-son update? The Supreme Court ruled that the father couldn't take his son home afterall...the saga continues!on 12/20/09Reply

News of the day about the GITMO detainees going to trial! Also, so glad for Liz Smart getting some justice, agreed? How do we feel about Balloon Boy's parent's publicity stunt? Time to be held responsible on a myriad of issues O-MAMAs!on 11/18/09Reply

Yep, a little bit. There is a lot of responsibility to be had...from the Army, from every day citizens who thought something was off. We are too afraid to speak out because we might hurt someone's feelings. We need to be more diligent...more aware...sorry, but in this case, we have to judge a book by it's cover...if someone looks "off" then we need to report it. If we turn "the page" and the book is good, then great. But, there are people who are trying to blend in that mean to do us harm. How do we find them if we aren't wiling to look hard enough???on 11/18/09Reply

Should the US Army take responsibility for the mass murder at Ft. Hood? Apparently, Dr. Hussan had quite a record of "crazy talk"?on 11/12/09Reply

I actually think this should be in the new VIOLENCE room...it was a violent act...personal responsibility is part of it I guess, but I think the increase in teen violence has a whole range of issues we can get into...on 11/06/09Reply

@latinmama: unfortunately there are rarely parents at a homecoming dance. some kids already switched schools because of this incident, out of fear and disgust. but i agree, the parents failed their children here...obviously.on 10/29/09Reply

Can we talk about the teen rape?? What is the deal with the kids all standing around and watching...where are the parents people???on 10/27/09Reply
