UNFORTUNATELY, IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEADS: Opinionated MAMA's Perspective On The Healthcare Summit

We’re calling out the media.  We have to, because we’re disappointed in them after the coverage of the healthcare summit.   What we saw on C-SPAN (yes! we watched all 7 hours!) and what we saw as the network and radio analyses of what we saw on C-SPAN made us feel like we were going a little nutso.

First of all, the media spin up to the meeting had us expecting the Republicans to act like a bunch of pompous, uniformed, buffoons and show America that they are the party of “no.”   I expected the Democrats, on the...

A FAMILY AFFAIR: O-MAMA's Oscar Wrap-Up Posted by Debbie • 3/8/10

The Oscars were a wonderful family affair!  The feel of the night was very 2010.  Substance over flash seemed to be the theme on the red carpet, in the production and even the Academy’s choices for winners.  Less glitz, more nostalgia, better writing, fewer dance numbers and classier couture than in past days.  The highlight of the night for us O-MAMA’s, though, was Sandy.   Sandra...

IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, TRY TRY AGAIN: Re-Starting The Healthcare Debate Posted by Debbie & Michelle • 2/25/10

President Obama is trying again with a new attempt: Healthcare 2.0. When our kids fail at something the first go round, we encourage them to try again.  Don’t send a plan to the scrap yard, just because it is difficult to achieve.  It’s the same in Washington. All agree that healthcare is a mess and needs to be fixed.  How to bang the dents out of the current system is the question.

The...
