JULY KID-O: Harrison Tingler. Has your child ever been excited about swimming lessons? Mine never were?! They used to scream and cry. It was a stressful way to kick off the summer “fun.” Well, problem solved! We found THE swimming instructor KIDS LOVE and so do their MAMAS!!! Hooray for Harrison. Harrison is a great kid – full of energy and lots of fun in and out of the pool. He has a cool confidence that the kids really respond to – they aren’t afraid because they feel comfortable, safe and in very capable hands. As opposed to the old school philosophy, throw them in and let them sink or swim, Harrison lets the kids splash around and have fun. He gets them laughing and then he gets them swimming in a “stroke” of genius. The kids have no idea that the lesson has even begun. He has them ride around on his back holding their breath and, on their “go,” he tosses them in the middle of the pool to swim to the side. He is encouraging and funny – calling the kids “Michael Phelps” and “Missy Franklin” then “oopsy, I mean Frank Matthews you have what it takes…you are speedy…keep working on that stroke.” The kids don’t want the lesson to end.
