Monday at 12 pm PST, we talked to actress, author and MAMA, Diane Farr about her book, “Kissing Outside the Lines: A True Story of Love and Race and Happily Ever After.” The book is an hilarious and thought provoking memoir about her interracial marriage. From falling in love, to planning a wedding in two cultures, to raising three “halfie” children-Diane’s insights are enlightening and funny.
In our interview, she talked to us about the secret prejudice that exists when it comes to love. In public, everyone is tolerant of other races and religions, but when it comes to the issue of love and marriage, families have secret “rules” about who is really acceptable or not.
Diane feels strongly that Americans should take more pride in our “Americanism” and the unique qualities that define our nation and connect us to each other. She talked to us about how she’s teaching her kids to be proud of both their Korean and American heritages without making one more important than the other.
