It’s Columbus Day…and National Coming Out Day, as well. For gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender people, this day celebrates the act of them accepting and sharing their sexual orientation. The day has been celebrated by the gay community since 1988. Recent suicides over anti-gay bullying has made this years’ celebrations in remembrance of the kids who have died because of taunting and/or isolation over their sexual identity.
MOMism: ”Be who you are.” We teach our kids not to lie…to themselves or others. Today kids across the country are going to tell the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts…but, these kids don’t want to lie anymore…they just want to be loved and accepted by the people they love…so, as their moms, we should open our arms wide, hug our kids tightly and tell them how much we love them. MAMAS, our kids need us, so don’t freak out…hug it out!
