The interfaith nuptials of Chelsea Clinton and her new hubby, Marc Mezvinsky, were attended by hundreds at a historic estate in the village of Rhinebeck, NY. Clinton and Mezinsky read an endearing poem to one another as part of their wedding vows on Saturday, July 31st. British Poet Leo Marks originally wrote the poem in 1943, in memory of his late girlfriend. The poem is sure to breathe new life after it’s exposure at the Clinton wedding.
The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours
The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours
A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause
For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours
And yours
MOMism: ”Read it and weep.”
O-MAMAs know that there is nothing like a wedding to pull on our heartstrings. We all attend weddings armed with our tissues and waterproof mascara. And it is virtually impossible not to imagine our own little darlings one day, in the white dress, standing on the alter professing their love.
We have all watched Chelsea grow up, in the public eye, so her fairytale day is as close to an “American Royal Wedding” as we get. O-MAMAs hope they live happily ever after!
What a graceful woman she is to have grown up amongst all of the chaos that she did. And part of that, you must admit, whether you like them or not, is due to her parents vigilance in raising her. No matter what their other faults are, they raised an amazing person that will undoubtedly contribute positively to the world.
