Longtime New York Yankees owner, George Steinbrenner passed away due to a massive heart attack. 80-year-old Steinbrenner is credited for leading the Yankees to seven World Series wins and 11 pennants. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said of the legend, “(his) Yankees represent the will to overcome all odds which is precisely the will New Yorkers display when meeting every challenge they face.”
MOMism: The beloved 7th inning stretch song, written by Jack Norworth in 1908, says it all:
“Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.”
