HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR TEA? NAACP Accuses Tea Party of Racism

The National Tea Party Federation, an organization that seeks to represent the Tea Party political movement around the country, has expelled Tea Party activist Mark Williams and his Tea Party Express organization. Responding to an NAACP resolution that called on Tea Party leaders to crack down on racist elements in the movement, Williams posted an inflammatory blog last week in what he called a “satirical” letter from “Colored People” to President Abraham Lincoln.

In what many cite as an example of overt racism, Williams bloggged that ”We Coloreds have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!”

Racial slurs and incidents of derogatory behavior marred Tea Party events across the country leading up to the NAACP’s resolution. National Tea Party officials stood by the Williams’ banishment, and claim that they intend to continue to distance themselves from elements that bring bigotry and prejudice to its events.

MOMism: “It may not be your cup of tea.” O-MAMAs remind their kids to align themselves with groups that they will be proud of. After all, for better or worse, people are judged by the company that they keep. Sometimes it is easy for a fringe, vocal group to hi-jack the vision of an organization, and it is difficult to back-peddle your association away from those few.
Tips for a proper tea party:
invite teddy bears and your favorite dollies
serve some yummy snacks
don’t let the tea come to a boil or it will be too hot
don’t simmer too long or it will be too strong
let it cool down a little…and then add a little sugar

There is never an excuse for racism. Kudos to the National Tea Party officials to throw Williams out of their movement. Accepting intolerance, in any sense, ruins any organization's credibility.

I am glad the Tea Party has distance themselves from Williams and his Tea Party Express organization, but is sure would have been nice if they'd come to this decision on their own and not under the pressure of the NAACP. Had they come to the decision on their own it would seem more sincere, instead it seems like they got rid of Williams because they feared added bad press had they not ousted him after the NAACP called for it.

The Tea Party claims to aspire to the Americana of years past. However, I think we are ALL PATRIOTIC and love this country. There are many things that I wish for my children…simple days, lots of laughter, family time, good old fashioned fun, etc. All of that is under MY control, no one else's. It is up to me to raise my children. To turn off the TV, to have a safe & happy home, to engage my kids, to teach them good manners, to create family memories…so, what is it that we all miss so much about the way it used to be? More wars? More segregation and racial tension? The great depression? Women barefoot and in the kitchen? Good times! Good grief.

Racism, What is racism? As to my knowledge
there is but one race. If there is another
race besides the human race, would someone please inform the rest of the human world!
Ah maybe that's it,racism is the study of the human race? Or maybe it's a religion.
Could I actually be right, there is but one
race and all this bickering is for something
much much deeper like greed, selfishness, bigotry, power,or to keep the flames of hatred burning oh fear the thought. I wellcome any comments cbrimm@bellsouth.net

cbrmm: I agree we are all of the human race. "Racism" as defined today will stay with us as long as we have that "us" and "them" mentality. It's all over the place – the news, tv, radio, etc. It's always them and us. Why? You're right ~ it's not about color, it's about the things you said – greed and power being, in my opinion, the biggest of them all.

The Tea Party is not racist. Just another lame lie that dems and libtards throw around to try to silence the sanity. The accusation is as idiotic as when they call you a birther for wanting to know why the bogus cert has the wrong name on it.
