Things to do:
"Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone."
~ Charles Schulz (1922-2000), American cartoonist 'Peanuts'.
The magic of Christmas is in the eyes of children. The spirit of Christmas lies in the hearts of all of us. Teaching your children that there are those in need during the holidays can open their eyes to the true spirit of the season. Have them pick out a gift for a child and take it to a local Toys For Tots drop box. They will feel great about extending themselves and giving back. It will also help them appreciate all of their many blessings...and, you'll start a meaningful tradition your kids can pay forward year after year.
Let us know how you and your kids give back this season!

“Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is”
– Idiom
We are opening a store that supports AMERICAN manufacturers by selling AMERICAN MADE products! Baseball hats, t-shirts, license plate rims, key chains and more to keep Americans working. Our products cost a little more, but they say "made in the USA" and are super duper cute! They have the O-MAMA circle and heart logo symbolizing America's moms working together to get to the heart of the issues that matter most to our kids and our country. We'll have pictures for you to see all the cuteness and we will list the manufacturer for each product and the city where it was made. Hooray, transparency!
Opinionated MAMAS, here is way we can help stimulate our economy! So, shop 'til you drop.
Let us know if you have a product idea...we'll source it here and put it in our store!

“The greatest wealth is health.”
– Virgil
When most adults think about exercise, they imagine working out in the gym on a treadmill or lifting weights. For kids, exercise means playing and having fun. Kids exercise when they have gym class at school, soccer practice or dance class. But, they also get plenty of exercise by playing tag, horsing around with their buddies, climbing trees and riding their bikes. Remember the days when we didn't come in until the street lights came on?
Kids who are active will:
· have stronger muscles and bones
· have a leaner body because exercise helps control body fat
· be less likely to become overweight
· decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes
· possibly lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels
· have a better outlook on life
Besides enjoying the health benefits of regular exercise, kids who are physically fit sleep better and are better able to handle physical and emotional challenges — from running to catch a bus to studying for a test.
What gets your kids running outside?

“Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me.”
- Idiom
We all know that any time we've said those words, our feelings were hurt. There are just some words that offend. "Retard" is one of those derogatory names that is part of our every day slang. For those kids with special needs, this term can be heart-breaking. It is hard enough for all kids to fit in at school and find their way in this world, we don't need to make it any harder for those with special needs by calling them names in the process.
Teasing is part of being a kid. It happens. But, it is still mean and hurtful.
What do you say when your child teases someone?

“There is no life without water.”
– Albert Szent-Gyorgi
In times of crisis, the #1 need people have is clean, safe, water. We take it for granted every day. We turn on the faucet and it just comes out. Lucky us. But, we need to do better to conserve, or one day it won't. Save water by having kids take baths or showers together, or have your kids jump in the shower with you! It's fun and it's quick. Rub-a-dub-dub three little people in a tub.
Another way to cut down water is to take shorter showers or to turn off the shower after soaping up, then turn it back on to rinse. Really? Try it! You might like the shock of it...it might wake you up! (-: Note: A four-minute shower uses approximately 20 to 40 gallons of water.
How does your family save water?

“Eat, drink and be merry.”
- American Proverb
The simple habit of sitting down together connects families. We eat, we chat, we laugh, we remind our 7 year olds to put their napkins on their laps for the 10,000th time! For families who
regularly have dinner together, the payoff comes during the teenage years when this daily
investment pays some of its biggest dividends. Studies show that the more often
families eat together, the less likely kids are to smoke, drink, do drugs, get
depressed, develop eating disorders and consider suicide, and the more likely
they are to do well in school, delay having sex, eat their vegetables, learn
big words and know which fork to use.
Please share your family’s mealtime traditions.
